Metallothionein (Metallothionein,MT) is a kind of non-enzymatic small molecule protein, which is lack of aromatic amino acid, rich in cysteine, and can combine with a variety of metal ions through sulfhydryl group. The metallothionein family mainly contains four subtypes of MT1, MT2, MT3 and MT4 in mammals. MT1 and MT2 are widely distributed and expressed in most tissues, especially in visceral tissues, such as liver and kidney. MT3 is mainly expressed in brain tissue and central nervous system. MT4 is mainly found in skin, epidermal cells of upper digestive tract and epidermal cells of upper respiratory tract, it can help regulate the pH value of gastric acid, improve the tongue's recognition of taste and texture, and have a certain protective and repair effect on skin trauma. This product is expressed by the fusion of human metallothionein 4(MT4) and small molecule ubiquitin-related modified protein (SUMO), and is purified by multiple steps. It can be used for scientific research related to MT4.
